Goal Setting Guide
Important Skills
Students build agency, confidence, perseverance, and intrinsic motivation as they progress through ST Math Camps by setting goals. Setting, monitoring, evaluating, and planning strategies to achieve goals are important skills for students. It supports their growth and development in many tangible ways.
Goal Tracking
The Goal Setting Guide provides information on how to help students track their progress in the goals that they set at the beginning of the module using the Game Design Goal Tracker. As students reach their goals, they can color the corresponding areas on their sheets.

Instructional Modifications
Modifications
The curriculum for the ST Math Game Design Camp focuses on student collaboration and engaging students in the Design Process to create a math table game that has math concepts embedded in it. There are 5 sessions (30 to 45 minutes each) in a module that can be covered in one week. However, the schedule can be adjusted to fit your school's specific needs. See the Pacing Guide for sample schedules.
It will take 25 days for students to complete the entire process of planning a game, creating a blueprint, building a prototype, testing the prototype, and iterating on the original game design to produce a final product.

To increase the number of days/weeks for this camp, add additional days of building the prototype, testing the game, and/or iterating on the game
Materials
Materials List
The Game Design Camp Materials List includes a list of classroom supplies and game creation materials that students will need as they create their games.
It also includes a Literature Connection section (K-5) with a suggested list of books that will support students in the design process.
Documents for Print
ST Math Game Design Camp offers digital files to download and print for your program. You will find materials that will assist in planning for the Camp sessions, plus materials to use during and after the facilitation of the session.
Showcase & Celebrations
Don't Forget to Celebrate!
ST Math Game Design Camp concludes with the Game Design Showcase and Celebration. This event provides students an opportunity to share their games. They will give a short presentation on the purpose of their games and the process they used to create them. The Showcase & Celebration Guide includes everything that you need to organize the showcase, prepare the students, and to celebrate!
It is recommended that teachers extend an invitation to families, community partners, district leaders, teachers, peers and school board members to celebrate students and the games they created. We have designed a customizable invitation you can use.

Teacher Guidance
Planning
Planning with your ST Math Camp curriculum can be as easy as 1-2-3...and 4, thanks to the Teacher Guidance resource. Teacher Guidance focuses on preparing teachers to successfully facilitate discussion and learning through the Design Process. Along with this guidance, the resource provides an at-a-glance planning guide for facilitators.

The Design Process
In ST Math Design Camp, students will design and create their own math game in small groups using the design process. Following the Engineering Design Principles, the Game Design Process is divided into seven actionable steps. Students will be guided through teacher facilitated sessions, small group work, and with the Design Challenge Student Booklet. The Design Process encourages students to build and test a prototype, evaluate the feedback from their classmates and make improvements to their design. This process nurtures students’ abilities to create innovative solutions and work collaboratively.
Design Process
Resources
In this section of the website you will find two resources to guide you and your students through the design process:
The Design Process Poster provides a clear, easy to follow, quick glance visual for your classroom. Use it as part of your discussions and to encourage independent thinking in your students.
The Design Process Description provides a seven-step description of the design process and how students use it to proceed through the creation of their individual ST Math Game Design Camp game..
