ST Math Camp: Adventure provides Instructional Stations as an effective learning model that engages students in several authentic experiences. The three Camp Instruction Stations are:

ST Math Puzzles

Small Group

Table Games that were introduced in Session 1 are now played by the students with a partner or in small groups to focus on developing and practicing math concepts.

Students work individually on ST Math puzzle game play. Encourage students to use math tools and refer to the Problem Solving Process Student Bookmark while they work.

Teachers lead small group discussions about word problems using facilitation questions and engagement strategies to promote discourse. Students discuss their strategies and explain and defend their answers.

Camp Stations occur in Sessions 2, 3, and 4 of the module. Students rotate through the stations in a way that allows for each student to experience all three stations during the module.

Goal Review

Session 5 of each Camp module provides time to review the goals that students set and tracked throughout the module. After discussing their progress and the strategies they used, students log in and play ST Math puzzles independently.

Individual Play

Remind students to use manipulatives and/or paper and pencil to help them solve problems while they progress through the ST Math puzzles. Provide students with the Problem Solving Process Student Bookmark to help them self-facilitate and think through puzzles when they are stuck.

Teacher Tip:

The teacher has the option to assign specific puzzles or have students continue their grade-level journeys from the previous school year.

The Teacher Support section provides resources to help you facilitate a successful Puzzle Talk, including module-specific game demos, a session agenda and planning tool, and materials to introduce students to ST Math. Click on each option below to learn more about these great support resources.
